DESCRIPTION:
French mantel clock under dome, the case and ornament of carved wood and finished to look like porcelain, with floral and rococo style ornament, and the base with winged dragons, with bright and matte gilding, gilt beaded bezel, Roman numeral white enamel dial, blued steel hands, 8 days, timepiece movement with pendulum, on a modern wood base with period dome, c1860
CONDITION:
case in remarkably good condition considering the materials and age, porcelain finish in very good condition, gilding very good, carved elements with a few minor losses, one broken branch will need repair (broken part with clock), left dragon with repaired right wing, the wing now painted gold, right dragon with small repair to left wing, a few glue drips on case back from previous repairs, dial with chip at winding hole, movement a bit loose, ticks, regulating rod detached but with clock, case back missing, base new, dome 19th century, Ht 18 1/2" (clock only), 27" to top of dome
